Belfast Hotels

Belfast is the largest city and capital in Northern Ireland and, straddling the boundary between County Antrim and County Down, is situated near the mouth of the River Lagan at the south-western end of Belfast Lough, a long natural inlet ideal for the shipping trade that made the city famous. In fact, the world's largest dry dock is located in the city, and the giant cranes (Samson and Goliath) of the Harland and Wolff shipyard, builders of the Titanic, can be seen from afar.

Belfast's buildings of historic interest include the City Hall, which was built around 1903 and dominates the main shopping area, as well as some of the banks on Waring Street, including the Ulster Bank and the Northern Bank.

The southern part of Belfast city is good for moderately priced restaurants, pubs and accommodation, and for shopping and theatre.

Major areas of interest include:

  • Belfast Port and Harbour
  • Belfast Zoo
  • Botanic Gardens
  • Cave Hill
  • Crown Liquor Saloon
  • Dixon Park
  • Home Front Heritage Centre
  • Lagan Valley Regional Park
  • Linen Hall Library
  • Ulster Museum
